Recommendation walking tour through the Jewish quarter in Amsterdam 2022

‘We visited Amsterdam with friends in April 2022 and had a most wonderful trip! Wies did her part in helping make it a success by arranging a morning walking tour for us of the National Holocaust Memorial and nearby area before visiting the Anne Frank House. The walking tour was thoughtful and well-planned, and Wies was most informative. But what we most appreciated was just being with her for the morning. It was a pleasant stroll with an old friend that we had only just met. It doesn’t get much better than that! Wies came highly recommended to us by a very good local tour company and we couldn’t have been more pleased. She was attentive to all our needs and interests. She speaks English beautifully. And she knows Amsterdam so well. We will definitely contact her whenever we find ourselves in Amsterdam again.

A special walking activity with a group: Hike&Haka in collaboration with Bureau voor Darf

Why? Get stronger and build strength with your team? Start with a hike that leads to a team haka. Hakas are dances performed as a ceremony that Maori tribes use for various occasions. An unparalleled haka is that of the New Zealand rugby union team to summon strength and perform well. The text is not sung but recited. Cries and exclamations are part of that. Often the dance starts by bending the knees in a straddle. The group members then strike, for example, on the tensed muscles of the chest or on the legs.

What? This event can stand alone as an activity, but can also be part of a team coaching process. In consultation we determine in which environment and with how many people it takes place. During the walk the group builds its own haka under supervision and at the end of the walk the group performs the haka.

Walking puzzle tours through Haarlem and Amsterdam. A nice team outing during Corona! And that Coronaproof!

Van Berkel accountants Haarlem

With our company we did a walking puzzle tour through Haarlem via Walkabouts and we had a fantastic afternoon. It's not only great to have fun (sometimes still unknown) Haarlem, but especially through the questions you really get to know the city and its history. In addition to the serious questions, there were also funny and crazy assignments so that you have a lot of fun together with your colleagues. With the occasional snack and a drink you are on the road for an afternoon.

Unfortunately the courtyards were (except one) Closed due to Corona but that was no problem for us. But when they open again it will be a super fun trip!

Dank Walkabouts, for all the flexibility and the very nice afternoon!

We have such a need to socialize with each other. Coronaproof is now also possible with your team! Per couple or per quartet, depending on the size of the team, you leave from the starting point armed with the puzzle quiz. Your historical knowledge will be tested, you have fun with each other and you know a little more about your teammate. In addition, two nice stops along the way for a drink and a drink and the day is complete. Also for family and friends of course!

Recommendation: Jewish walk around Amsterdam

Walk Jewish neighborhood in September 2014
Fun and interesting stroll on a beautiful late summer Sunday afternoon! Wieske guide gives an excellent insight into the Amsterdam Jewish history which of course will be introduced into the war past. In between coffee in a nice cafe. This time by a very special live performance by a choir that brought performed ancient Jewish chants in Sefardí!
We enjoyed Wieske and like to do in 2015 a walk under your guidance in Haarlem!

Recommendation

Jordaanwandeling recommendation

Jordan corridor project What a nice Jordaan walk you had.

Cycling and walking through the Oosterdok and Eastern Docklands

With a small, in the development and construction company we are working under very
enthusiastic guidance of Wieske, by the Eastern Docklands cycled. Our start was from the Lloyd Hotel (also known as the emigrant hotel). We
have seen a lot, including the VOC wharf, Oosterkerk, the Maritime Museum, architectuurcentrum Arcam,  Oosterdok, KNSM, Java- and Borneo island and through the Piet Hein Kade back.

During the ride, on applicable (ancient) Amsterdam bicycles, We literally and figuratively looks at the history and architecture of the conscious places in Amsterdam.

We enjoyed it!

Jewish Area

Mokum, a word derived from the Hebrew which means city or place.

The Jewish people named every city Mokum and they connected it with a letter from the Hebrew alphabet , Amsterdam was Mokum Alef, city A. Rotterdam, Mokum Resh, city R. Later on only Amsterdam was called Mokum because Jewish people felt at ease in Amsterdam. It is said that the Jews saw Amsterdam as the second city after Jeruzalem , because of feeling at home.. From the end of the fifteenth century Sephardi Jews from Spain and Portugal fled to Amsterdam because of the inquisition. From 1600 Ashkenazi Jews from Central and Eastern Europe fled to Amsterdam as well.- A lively Jewish community arose at the east side of the city, since that part of the city was located in the direction of Jeruzalem.. The guide is taking you along historical spots, monuments of the Holocaust, the Portuguese and Ashkenazi Synagogues, the latter synagogue is now known as the Jewish Historical Museum.
